A grand jury from Pitkin County has indicted two building and house inspectors and a plumbing and heating company owner for the death of a family in Aspen. The Lofgren family, with husband and wife Parker and Caroline, along with their children Sophie and Owen, reportedly died from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a faulty water system that caused gas to leak into the house.

Following a county home inspection service, the residence in Buckingham, Florida owned by Shirley Twombley was condemned and declared unsafe for occupation. The inspection, which was conducted on June 16, 2009, revealed that the dwelling was full of different items and various stuff.

The City Council of Dearborn, Michigan has approved a proposal made by Mayor Jack O’Reilly which eliminates the need for homebuyers to escrow funds for the repair of the property being purchased. The money is eventually returned to the buyer after home inspection, but can be a burden particularly for first time homeowners.
